Pork (Flesh of Swine) And Its Harmful Effects

In Quran Allah forbid us many things including flesh of swine /pork. It is stated in many verses:
 

سُوۡرَةُ البَقَرَة
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
 إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيۡڪُمُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحۡمَ ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ بِهِۦ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ غَيۡرَ بَاغٍ۬ وَلَا عَادٍ۬ فَلَآ إِثۡمَ عَلَيۡهِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ (١٧٣)  

[002:173] He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of God. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For God is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

 

اس نے تم پر مرا ہوا جانور اور لہو اور سور کا گوشت اور جس چیز پر خدا کے سوا کسی اور کا نام پکارا جائے حرام کردیا ہے ہاں جو ناچار ہوجائے (بشرطیکہ ) خدا کی نافرمانی نہ کرے اور حد (ضرورت) سے باہر نہ نکل جائے اس پر کچھ گناہ نہیں۔ بےشک خدا بخشنے والا (اور) رحم کرنے والا ہے (۱۷۳)

 

سُوۡرَةُ المَائدة
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحۡمُ ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ وَٱلۡمَوۡقُوذَةُ وَٱلۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَآ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيۡتُمۡ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسۡتَقۡسِمُواْ بِٱلۡأَزۡلَـٰمِ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكُمۡ فِسۡقٌ‌ۗ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ يَٮِٕسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن دِينِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَٱخۡشَوۡنِ‌ۚ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمَ دِينً۬ا‌ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ فِى مَخۡمَصَةٍ غَيۡرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ۬ لِّإٍِ۬ثۡمٍ۬‌ۙ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ۬ (٣)

[005:003] Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than God; that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless ye are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, God is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
 

تم پر مرا ہوا جانور اور (بہتا) لہو اور سور کا گوشت اور جس چیز پر خدا کے سوا کسی اور کا نام پکارا جائے اور جو جانور گلا گھٹ کر مر جائے اور جو چوٹ لگ کر مر جائے اور جو گر کر مر جائے اور جو سینگ لگ کر مر جائے یہ سب حرام ہیں اور وہ جانور بھی جس کو درندے پھاڑ کھائیں۔ مگر جس کو تم (مرنے سے پہلے) ذبح کرلو اور وہ جانور بھی جو تھان پر ذبح کیا جائے اور یہ بھی کہ پاسوں سے قسمت معلوم کرو یہ سب گناہ (کے کام) ہیں آج کافر تمہارے دین سے ناامید ہو گئے ہیں تو ان سے مت ڈرو اور مجھی سے ڈرتے رہو (اور) آج ہم نے تمہارے لئے تمہارا دین کامل کر دیا اور اپنی نعمتیں تم پر پوری کر دیں اور تمہارے لئے اسلام کو دین پسند کیا ہاں جو شخص بھوک میں ناچار ہو جائے (بشرطیکہ) گناہ کی طرف مائل نہ ہو تو خدا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے (۳)

 

سُوۡرَةُ المَائدة
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيم

قُلۡ هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّ۬ مِّن ذَٲلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِندَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ مَن لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيۡهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنۡہُمُ ٱلۡقِرَدَةَ وَٱلۡخَنَازِيرَ وَعَبَدَ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ شَرٌّ۬ مَّكَانً۬ا وَأَضَلُّ عَن سَوَآءِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ (٦٠)

[005:060] Say: "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from God? those who incurred the curse of God and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!"

کہو کہ میں تمہیں بتاؤں کہ خدا کے ہاں اس سے بھی بدتر جزا پانے والے کون ہیں؟ وہ لوگ ہیں جن پر خدا نے لعنت کی اور جن پر وہ غضبناک ہوا اور (جن کو) ان میں سے بندر اور سور بنا دیا اور جنہوں نے شیطان کی پرستش کی ایسے لوگوں کا برا ٹھکانہ ہے اور وہ سیدھے رستے سے بہت دور ہیں (۶۰)

 

سُوۡرَةُ الاٴنعَام
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

قُل لَّآ أَجِدُ فِى مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَىٰ طَاعِمٍ۬ يَطۡعَمُهُ ۥۤ إِلَّآ أَن يَكُونَ مَيۡتَةً أَوۡ دَمً۬ا مَّسۡفُوحًا أَوۡ لَحۡمَ خِنزِيرٍ۬ فَإِنَّهُ ۥ رِجۡسٌ أَوۡ فِسۡقًا أُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ‌ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ غَيۡرَ بَاغٍ۬ وَلَا عَادٍ۬ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ۬ (١٤٥)

[006:145] Say: "I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than God's". But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

کہو کہ جو احکام مجھ پر نازل ہوئے ہیں ان میں کوئی چیز جسے کھانے والا کھائے حرام نہیں پاتا بجز اس کے کہ وہ مرا ہوا جانور یا بہتا لہو یا سور کا گوشت کہ یہ سب ناپاک ہیں یا کوئی گناہ کی چیز ہو کہ اس پر خدا کے سوا کسی اور کا نام لیا گیا ہو اور اگر کوئی مجبور ہو جائے لیکن نہ تو نافرمانی کرے اور نہ حد سے باہر نکل جائے تو تمہارا پروردگار بخشنے والا مہربان ہے (۱۴۵)

سُوۡرَةُ النّحل
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيۡڪُمُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحۡمَ ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ‌ۖ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ غَيۡرَ بَاغٍ۬ وَلَا عَادٍ۬ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ۬ (١١٥)

 

[016:115] He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than God has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then God is Oft-

 

اس نے تم پر مُردار اور لہو اور سور کا گوشت حرام کردیا ہے اور جس چیز پر خدا کے سوا کسی اور کا نام پکارا جائے (اس کو بھی) ہاں اگر کوئی ناچار ہوجائے تو بشرطیکہ گناہ کرنے والا نہ ہو اور نہ حد سے نکلنے والا تو خدا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے (۱۱۵)

Why Flesh of Swine is Forbidden?

 

Eating pork may harm our health in a great many regards. No matter how clean the farms and environments on which it is raised may be, the pig is not by nature a clean-living animal. It often plays in, and even eats, its own excrement. Due to this and its biological structure, the pig produces much higher levels of antibodies in its body than other animals.

In addition, far higher levels of growth hormone are produced in the pig compared to those in other animals and human beings. Naturally, these high levels of antibodies and growth hormone pass across to and collect in the pig's muscle tissue. Pork meat also contains high levels of cholesterol and lipids. It has been scientifically proven that these significant amounts of antibodies, hormones, cholesterol and lipids in pork represent a serious threat to human health. 

 

Swine Flu, An acute and highly contagious respiratory disease of swine caused by the orthomyxovirus thought to be the same virus that caused the 1918 influenza pandemic

 

Allah also forbidden us the dead animals and blood since it may be contaminated  with deadly microorganism or worms, harmful for our heath. The Halal (meat from animals that have been slaughtered in the prescribed way according to the shariah) carries no blood is less harmful to our health.

The commandments of our Lord's provides complete protection from the harmful effects of pork, dead animals and blood under any conditions.

We have to ponder over the curse of God, as it is mentioned in Quran [005:060]. God is the creator of DNA, and has all the knowledge and power to alter it.

The Muslims shall avoid all Forbidden animals & things prohibited by Allah and His Messenger,  as they don't eat flesh of swine.

سُوۡرَةُ محَمَّد
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
 يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَلَا تُبۡطِلُوٓاْ أَعۡمَـٰلَكُمۡ (٣٣)

[047:033] O ye who believe! Obey God, and obey the apostle, and make not vain your deeds!

مومنو! خدا کا ارشاد مانو اور پیغمبر کی فرمانبرداری کرو اور اپنے عملوں کو ضائع نہ ہونے دو (۳۳)

 

Beside the pork; Donkey, dog, cat, fox and many other animal & birds that eat with the help of their paws are also Haraam (Forbidden) in Sunnah (the way of life prescribed as normative for Muslims on the basis of the teachings and practices of Muhammad (PBUH) and interpretations of the Quran) , not mentioned in Quran.
